Your Website Looks Great… But What About Your Packaging?

Why I Started Creating Product Boxes for Small Businesses.

The Missing Link in Branding: Why I Started Designing Product Boxes

When I first launched She Designs Things, my mission was simple: help people build clean, easy-to-use websites. I worked mostly with small brands and handmade shops—entrepreneurs launching their first real products. But as their websites improved, I noticed a recurring disconnect.

A beautiful website would lead a customer to a purchase, but then the product would arrive in a plain shipping box or mismatched packaging that didn’t reflect the brand at all.

That’s when it clicked: branding doesn’t stop at the website.

Packaging is the Handshake

For small businesses, every interaction matters. The moment someone opens a package is a physical extension of everything your website and social media promised. Product boxes do more than just hold an item; they:

  • Reinforce your brand identity.

  • Create a memorable unboxing experience.

  • Increase the perceived value of your work.

For many customers, this is the first real-world interaction they have with your brand. It should feel intentional.

Solving My Own Problem

Before I offered product boxes to clients, I had to solve the issue for myself.

I run a self-care brand called Poppy + Lily. The products were beautiful and the ingredients were thoughtful, but the packaging options available to small brands were frustrating. Most companies require orders of thousands of units, or they use over-complicated design templates that feel out of reach for a growing business.

So, I did what I always do when something doesn’t work: I designed my own.

I created custom boxes with soft colors and botanical illustrations that made the products feel cohesive. When the Cherry Blossom Collection finally sat in matching boxes, the brand felt polished and complete. The bath soak and body oil suddenly looked like they truly belonged together.

Bridging the Gap for Small Brands

After seeing the transformation in my own brand, I realized how many other businesses were stuck in the same spot—great products, strong branding, but no realistic way to bridge the two in the physical world.

They were hitting the same walls:

  • Minimum orders that were way too high.

  • Expensive printing costs and confusing requirements.

  • Boxes that only worked for one specific size.

If I could make this work for Poppy + Lily, I knew I could create a simpler way for other small businesses to look professional without the massive investment.

A Simpler Way to Brand

The philosophy behind the product boxes at She Designs Things is the same one I apply to websites: Make it easier for small businesses without sacrificing quality.

I designed these boxes to complement modern aesthetics and work for common product types. They are built for the entrepreneur who wants their brand to show up beautifully in the real world, not just on a screen.

Your website creates the expectation; your packaging delivers the experience. When those two align, customers remember you. There’s nothing more satisfying than helping a brand go from an idea on a screen to a physical product someone is actually excited to open.

If you're building a brand and want packaging that reflects the work you've put into it, our product boxes were created with small businesses like yours in mind. Order yours today: shop.shedesignsthings.com.
